Harry Potter and Hagrid

It is the day after Christmas and I am working away on a roof plan for a project deadline next week.  The kids are still out of school, so no bags for a little while.  Regardless, I have been working at another Harry Potter composition.  This is taken from when Hagrid takes Harry to see the dragons prior to the first task in the Goblet of Fire.  It is still black and white, but I will post the finished image when it is done!  I hope that everyone has had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a great 2012!

Harry Potter - Tonks in the Alley

This is another piece of Harry Potter fan art, Tonks is working between Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley, packing a loaded wand and light dung bomb.  This was a little over ambitious and I will probably try tackling it again in the future once I get better at composition.

Harry Potter - Luna Lovegood

Stepping away from the Christmas theme is a quick doodle from a sketchbook of Luna Lovegood.  One of the better Harry Potter characters I feel.  Have a great day!

1930's Christmas

After Thanksgiving I switch over to Christmas themed bags taken from Christmas Carols, this one is the "Little Drummer Boy", interpreted as a 1930's Christmas.  The insert described to my daughter the idea that there isn't enough money for presents and all that people could exchange are the gifts that they could make themselves and some small treats such as oranges or nuts.

This is an image from my son's story.  This story includes dragons, wizards, elves, and now a Minotaur.  He gets a sketch card which is a little 2 1/2" x 3 1/2 strathmore board card and the story is written on a piece of paper the same size and they are put into a little envelope in his lunch box.

Happy Halloween

I am very late today with the post, this is the final composition with the characters all together.  Out doing a little trick or treating!

This is the last of my Halloween characters for this year, my goal is to get them all composed into a single image by next Monday, but if not at least they are all rendered.  I have to move on to the rest of the Christmas Cards next!

This is a sketchcard that I did for a friend's son, I had to practice before I sent it out, I hadn't drawn Batman before I tried my hand at this one.  He's okay, just need to work a little more on him and also the watercoloring!

This is some illustration for a friend's company.  They have an annual client appreciation picnic called The Low Country Boil.  This is this year's shirt I did for them.  Both the original image and the final shirt print.

Harry Potter - Quidditch

I am a bit of a nerd.  If you are reading this, you may have deduced this already.  So I have spent an inordinate amount of time working on this image.  A little Harry Potter composition with some minor characters interacting at the Quidditch World Cup.  Mad Eye Moody and Tonks chasing after Mundungus Fletcher.

This is an bit of detail for the background of a composition that I am working on that puts Mad Eye, Tonks, and Mundungus together.  In the  final it is so small that you can really see it, but I like to fill out the details so I am showing it here.

This another image from my son's story for his lunch on Friday. Needless to say, there are dragons.  I don't know how he feels about the images or story, but I am enjoying drawing some dragons for a change.  I may throw in some surprises down the road though!

Harry Potter, okay just kidding Hermione

I am still working on this week's bag, so I am pulling some images from the summer where I went through a bit of a Harry Potter phase, this is Hermione asking for the Half Blood Prince's Potion Book from Harry.

Harry Potter, or really Bellatrix

I spent a lot of time this summer doodling out Harry Potter Characters, this is a little bit of Bellatrix.  I like the minor or secondary characters more than the main 3.  This was a warm up sketch that I hit with a little bit of color to feel like I had done more than I really had.

More Harry Potter...or Tonks really

This is one of the warm up images done before doing the big Tonks image (here: http://doodlebagdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/09/harry-potteragainsort-of.html) some of the things that this drawing had show up in the final image.  It is a hand sketch with Pitt Pen inking and then colors in Photoshop.

These are some sketches for my son's lunch, he doesn't want them on the bags anymore, but something a little more discrete.  These sketch cards are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and have little envelopes that you can slide them into.  I am writing a story on the back of them that he can read in the short time he has for middle school lunch.

Another little Harry Potter Number from the Summer

After I did the Bill Weasley drawing (http://doodlebagdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/07/harry-pottersort-of.html), I decided to tackle another minor character for fun.  This one was of Tonks and her work as an Auror.  This one gave me the opportunity to generate another complex background as well as mess with how to render magic.  In the end I used clips of Hubble telescope images for the magic and spent the rest of the time creating the things that are getting knocked around in the background.  Good fun for a while.
